Dr. Nick Chu

Optometrist

Dr. Nick Chu received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006 and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO) in May 2011. During his time at UHCO, he served as a teaching assistant for various courses, including Ophthalmic Optics and Clinical Practicum Labs. Dr. Chu was also a member of Beta Sigma Kappa (BSK), the national optometry honor society, and received two clinical letters of excellence during his clinical practice. He completed his first internship at a site specializing in clinical pathology, dry eyes, and refractive surgeries. He is currently licensed to practice therapeutic optometry and is certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.

Dr. Chu is a highly regarded expert in myopia management based in Austin, with over 500 patients successfully treated. His extensive expertise includes advanced treatments such as Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT or Ortho-K), which uses specially designed contact lenses to reshape the cornea and reduce myopia progression. He is also well-versed in the use of MiSight daily contact lenses, a cutting-edge option designed to slow myopia progression in children. Additionally, Dr. Chu employs atropine eye drops, a proven method for managing and controlling myopia. His comprehensive approach makes him a leading authority in the field of myopia management.

Dr. Chu and his family have lived in Mueller for over 13 years, and he is excited to serve his neighbors and community. Building and opening a local practice is a dream come true. If you see him around, please be sure to stop and say hello.

During his free time, Dr. Chu enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Sarah, and his son, Benji. He has also fallen in love with pickleball and can often be found on the courts. Additionally, he enjoys watching movies, exploring new restaurants, and anything related to technology. Dr. Chu is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
